Cost to Company (CTC)
CTC (Cost to Company) is a metric that refers to the total cost a company incurs for an employee, including not only their salary but also all benefits and allowances offered to employees.
Cost to Company (CTC)
Cost to Company (CTC) includes the following elements:
- Basic salary: this is the fundamental element of CTC and refers to the monthly wage an employee receives.
- Health insurance contributions: the company may cover the costs of health insurance for its employees.
- Social security contributions: the company pays social security contributions for its employees.
- Pension fund contributions: the company may offer its employees a pension scheme to which it regularly contributes.
- Additional benefits: companies often provide extra benefits for their employees, such as additional days off, training, insurance, event tickets, etc.
It is worth noting that CTC does not include costs incurred by the employee, such as commuting expenses, food costs, etc. CTC is an important indicator for setting employee salary budgets and allows the company to estimate the total cost of employing a worker.
What is the formula for CTC?
The formula for Cost to Company (CTC) can be presented as follows:
CTC = (Basic Salary) + (Health Insurance Contributions) + (Social Security Contributions) + (Pension Fund Contributions) + (Additional Benefits)
It is worth noting that these costs may vary depending on the company and the country in which it is located. In some countries, the company may also incur additional costs, such as accident insurance contributions or payroll tax. Therefore, it is advisable to check the applicable regulations in a given country and adjust the formula to the individual needs of the company.
CTC example
For example, if a company offers an employee a gross monthly basic salary of 5000 PLN, health insurance contributions of 400 PLN, social security contributions of 1000 PLN, pension fund contributions of 500 PLN, and additional benefits in the form of health insurance worth 300 PLN and extra days off worth 200 PLN, then the CTC is:
CTC = (5000 PLN) + (400 PLN) + (1000 PLN) + (500 PLN) + (300 PLN + 200 PLN) = 7400 PLN
This means that the company incurs monthly costs associated with employing a worker amounting to 7400 PLN. However, it is important to remember that CTC may vary depending on the individual needs of the company and the regulations in force in a given country.
